There are three people in Scripture who took a great risk to stand alone for righteousness in the midst of a generation filled with wickedness.
Certainly they had no idea that the difficult decision they made would be remembered for all of history; that it would be talked about and held up as an example for millennia of generations.
But for each of them, the decision they made marked history.
Had they chosen differently, history as we know it today would be severely altered.
There are three important areas where Noah, Joseph and Esther serve as examples for us today.
1. They are an example of how to make a choice to now allow negative circumstances to determine our future.
Your past and present circumstances do not have to determine your future or your identity.
2. They are example of how to make the choice that you will not allow culture and peer pressure to determine the course of your life.
We don’t have to live by culture and peer pressure. Jesus Christ gives us a new identity.
3. They are an example of how to make the choice that you will stand alone when everyone else is doing that which is wrong.
One of the most challenging things we do as believers is make the choice to stand alone when other Christians are doing it.
When you make the choice to take this kind of a stand, you have to make sure that your heart is free from criticalness, a judgmental spirit, and spiritual arrogance.
Learning to live in a spirit of “others may, I cannot”, will require you to keep a humble, gracious, loving spirit so that you are not being critical and judgmental.
