“Your past and present circumstances do not have to determine your future or your identity”
This sentence has become my motto and the foundation for so much of my teaching and preaching today, along with this sentence:
“Failure is an event, not an identity.”
You see, I lived much of my life as a victim, not a victor.
I grew up in a splintered, alcoholic home and was abused as a child.
My teachers would routinely mock me in front of the class and confirmed to day after day that I was a failure and would be in prison by the time I was 18.
So many of these events shaped my identity.
Even as a Christian and young pastor, I struggled so much with my identity in Christ – until one day when the truth of who I really am in Christ blew open the prison doors of my heart and set me free from the words, events, and actions that had shaped who I was.
Did you catch that?
Who I was!
Jesus saved me and made me a whole new man. The old Dean died that day and a new Dean was born!
I have taken what God taught me about my identity and position in Christ and have put it in a series of books called The Freedom Series.
Below you will find a short description of each book and links to where you can read more about this series.
Each book is available in PDF, Paperback, and Kindle.
Discovering True Identity shatters those molds! It liberates us with a message that we can break free from the generalities and demographics that our own past and societies labels have place on us and live a new life with a fresh purpose and a hopeful future.
This message is crucial for today’s believer. We live in a era when we are defined by our successes; by what people see and perceive about us and often those labels define our present choices and our future path.
Agape addresses these questions and offers solid yet simple answers to the complex problems that face our world today; as well as inspiration and hope to fight hard and stand strong in the battle: Mission Agape!
We are not at the mercy of our enemy!
Agape is a handbook for spiritual warfare, but more than that, it is a handbook for every Christian who wants to learn how to transform their cities for Jesus Christ.
Charis takes you on a journey of understanding what true grace looks like in the everyday life of the Christian. By first learning to embrace and apply grace in your own life to move beyond past failures and hurts, you learn how to extend grace to others around you.
You will learn how to recognize God’s presence during times of trauma, hurt, disappointment, and failure in your past and apply God’s grace to those moments so you can finally move past them toward complete victory and freedom in your life.
