What happens when what was once always considered to be truth suddenly becomes a lie?
What happens when those whom God has called and raised up to be voices of truth in our culture, our pastors, choose to only speak empty platitudes, while ignoring the crisis going on in the church today?
What happens when pastors stop preaching the truth?
There is a very disturbing passage of Scripture found in the Book of Ezekiel.
Now that may not seem too unusual to the experienced student of Holy Scripture, as the prophet seems to be known for having unusual visions.
That is not the portion to which I am referring.
The passage which demands our attention is much closer to home.
“The conspiracy of her prophets in her midst is like a roaring lion tearing the prey; they have devoured people; they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in her midst. Her priests have violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them” (Ezekiel 22:25-27 NKJV).
The preachers of the nation:
- Those charged with the responsibility of maintaining a right spiritual focus and direction in the culture
- Those entrusted with the documents of truth
- Those men called of God and anointed by the Holy Spirit to proclaim a clear message of righteousness and relationship with the Living God
were failing in their duties.
They feared loss of their financial supporters.
They were allowing moral compromise in their own heart.
They began to rewrite Scripture according to political correctness and contemporary relevance.
In their headlong pursuit of success, advancement, and cultural relevance, these men, called of God, became voices of distortion and outright deception.
The nation of Israel lost her moral equilibrium, broke covenant with the living God, became filled with wickedness and evil, and was led by corrupt leaders hungry for bribes and extortion.
Has this happened in America?
Is that why America is in a moral free fall?
Have the voices of truth become voices of distortion? It appears to be so, in many cases.

Right and wrong behavior, according to Tony Campolo, is measured by the question, “Does it seem to be consistent with what my wife and I experience in our relationship?”
Pastor Stan Mitchell of GracePoint, Franklin, Tennessee and the elders of City Church, San Francisco, have determined the Scripture no longer forbids what God calls an abomination.
After all, “God is bringing LGBT Christians through the doors of City Church. They desire to follow Jesus, and are eager to live faithfully to the gospel and desire spiritual growth.”
Really?
LGBT Christians?
They are “eager to live faithfully to the Gospel and desire spiritual growth?”
How does this fit with the Scriptural mandate for obedience to the principles and precepts of God’s infallible Word?
Where is the clear call for repentance from that which God calls an abomination and a clarion call for holy living?
We must clearly speak the Truth “once for all delivered unto the Saints.”
We have been entrusted with a precious vouchsafe, the holy, infallible Word of God.
When the preachers and prophets do not give a clear message of the infallible Word that makes room for the Holy Spirit to convict of sin, righteousness and judgment, the hearts of the people begin to wander.
- The leaders of the land become vulnerable to bribes and extortion.
- Judges will make up their own rules.
- Morals will be determined by the majority of the populace, or the most vocal minority of the populace.
It is extremely dangerous when the preachers of a nation become uncertain voices and truth begins to warp. People begin searching for the plumb line that will keep them erect and their lives on a solid foundation.
When the leading pastors of the land begin distorting the truth and adjusting the principles to fit the current cultural trends the moral compass gives an uncertain reading.
The frame work of the family moves out of alignment.
The whole structure of the nation is built on beach sand, leaving it vulnerable to the impending spiritual hurricane.
The spiritual leaders, entrusted with the greatest of responsibilities, have sown to the wind. The nation and the people are about to experience the whirlwind.
Truth has become a lie and a lie has become truth.

What Happens When Pastors Stop Preaching the Truth
The Reason Why the Church Shouldn’t Be Inclusive
Hello 🙂 I’m stopping by from Grace and Truth’s linkup last week. I completely agree with your warning here! My husband is a pastor (for now), and just this week, we were shocked to hear our deacons toss aside the Word of God on a similar sin issue. There are others involved who cannot believe their stance either. We are forced to resign because we cannot support the direction the church is heading. I say all of this because it’s in our churches whether we believe it or not – this idea that God’s word changes or should change along with society! What we now face is a battle to reclaim the authority of the Word!
Jen @ Being Confident of This
Hellow Jen, I hope to be by later this week on Facebook to encourage you and your husband a little. My heart breaks for you and for the pain you have endured over the weekend.
