Have you ever wished you could stop allowing your emotions to direct your decisions and live life as a new creation, like the Bible says you are?
If you are still living by your old defaults and self-talk; if you’re still stuck in a pit of negativity every time something goes wrong in your life, you need to keep reading.
Below are steps you need to take to stop living out of the old man, and live life as a new creation in Jesus Christ!
Jesus gave us a parable:
“For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’ But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.”
Matthew 25:14-29
For those of us who are a new creation in Jesus Christ, we have been given the stewardship of God’s Kingdom and Jesus is coming back again! And when He comes back again, He’s going to take account.
In this parable Jesus shows us that He gives us responsibility according to our ability with accountability and promised reward.
What are you doing with what God gave you?
Are you handling life out of the spirit or are you still handling it out of your natural man, your natural mind? Are you still dealing with life out of your emotions and your 5 physical senses?
We’re a new creation!
“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 1 Peter 1:2-4
The natural man handles life out of their five senses, mind, emotions and volition. Their flesh and their soul. Not through the life source of Jesus Christ in them.
They live life by manipulating those around them with their emotions and feeding their appetites, giving into sensory activities. Our life is driven by this, and everything in our culture teaches you to live driven by your sensories and emotions; by the spirit of this age.
But God has given us great promises, that He’ll be our source; He’ll give us everything we need for life and godliness!
4 Ways We Live Life as a New Creation
1. Repent of your sin. This isn’t only the initial repentance when you become born again. There are times when as a new creation, through a bad attitude or a wrong choice, we sin and we need to repent of that.
2. Present your whole being to God. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1
3. Yield your members to Him: mind, volition, emotions. Left to ourselves, we will mess it up. We need to live completely yielded to Him body, soul an spirit.
4. Renew your mind. I will be sharing next week about how to live in the power of a renewed mind. How to transform thought patters and adjust your world view.
