One of the greatest dangers spiritual leaders face is making his Bible study sermon or lesson preparation.
Without personal nourishment a spiritual leader will become spiritually malnourished, offering only dry crumbs and not a hearty feast of God’s Word.

Thanks for sharing those books and authors that help nourish you spiritually.
I like reading books about the great Christian men and women who have gone before us like Jonathan Edwards, Susannah Wesley, Amy Carmichael, and George Mueller just to name a few. I call those books, “mentoring books”. L’Abri and The Hiding Place also had profound effects on my prayer life and walk of faith.
Oh yes! Those books are so wonderful. Biographies of our “heroes of the faith” are some of my very favorites to read.
I love reading work from Chuck Swindol and John Maxwell. Years ago my schedule allowed me the free time each day as Chuck Swindol’s show on Family Life Radio went live. It did nourish my soul!
Blessings and smiles,
Lori
Yes, those are two of my favorite authors and speakers.
I haven’t read that one by Watchman Nee but I loved “Walk, Sit, Stand.”
Anything by Watchman Nee is worth reading.
