Why The Church Must Stay Firm About Homosexuality

The dialogue is both interesting and curious.
Pastor Stan Mitchell, pastor of GracePoint, a mega church in Franklin, Tennessee, explains that LGBT individuals may be “full members” of his church as long as they live “holiness, wholeness, fidelity, godliness, skill and willingness.”
The Elders of City Church San Francisco explain to their church family “God is bringing LGBT Christians through the doors of City Church. They desire to follow Jesus, and are eager to live faithfully to the gospel and desire spiritual growth.”
How is that possible?
Holiness is not based upon a human standard, cultural norm, or a Supreme Court ruling.
Jesus defined it like this. “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48 NKJV).
God is the standard by which holiness is measured.
“For I am the LORD your God: you shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall you defile yourselves with any creeping thing that creeps upon the earth” (Leviticus 11:44 NKJV).
That is why the Apostle Peter exhorted the Church, “But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy; for I am holy’” (1 Peter 1:15-16 KJV).
How can a church leader call a behavior acceptable when God says, ‘You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination” (Leviticus 18:22 NKJV).
How is it possible for a church leader to encourage someone who is participating in a lifestyle God calls an abomination to live holiness and godliness, while accepting their continued pursuit that behavior?
What is the basis for calling a person who persistently practices a behavior God calls an abomination “eager to live faithfully to the gospel and desire to grow spiritually?”
How is it “God is bringing LGBT Christians through the doors” when God has said:
“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 NKJV).
The standard of right and wrong behavior, according to Tony Campolo, is no longer the holiness of the Living God and His Holy Word, but does it seem to be consistent with what my wife and I experience in our relationship.
This is nothing more or less than a blatant rewrite of the Holy Scriptures. Jude was facing a similar time.
He said, “Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ” (Jude 3-4 NKJV).
Dean, are you calling these church leaders, “ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness?”
Not me, but the Word of the Living God!
We are watching, in our life time, as men and women who at one time preached the Word of God, compromise our holy faith and even worse, say it no longer means what it once meant.
Our post-Christian, rapidly becoming anti-Christian, culture requires a reinterpretation of the Word.
It is time to speak up for true faith “once for all delivered unto the Saints.
“Forever, O Lord, Your Word is settled in Heaven” (Psalm 119:89 NKJV).
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God…” and it is not open for rewrite or a reinterpretation to fit political correctness or cultural relevance.
Many will proclaim, “But, that is Old Testament legalism!”
Others will explain the Old Testament standard of abomination was done away with in the New Testament era of grace.
Someone failed to explain that to the Apostle Paul and to the Apostle Peter.
While writing the greatest treatise on grace, the Apostle Paul declared, “For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due” (Romans 1:26-27 NKJV).
God has not and will not rewrite His Word.
The Church must stand and clearly speak the truth!
