With so many voices competing for our attention, it can be difficult to know what is true.
Yet the Bible warned that a time would come when many people would reject the truth and embrace deception.

The Bible Warned About a Great Delusion
The Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Thessalonians 2 that people who refuse to love the truth will eventually embrace deception.
We see a sobering progression:
- Lies become accepted.
- Deception becomes normal.
- Distortions are treated as facts.
- Delusion follows.
- Destruction is the inevitable result.
This isn’t simply a prediction about the future—it is a warning for every generation to remain anchored in God’s truth.
Truth Is More Than Information
One of the greatest dangers facing any culture is not simply misinformation.
It is the loss of a love for truth.
When people no longer value truth, they begin accepting whatever aligns with their desires, opinions, or emotions.
Eventually, truth becomes subjective.
The Bible presents a completely different foundation.
Jesus declared:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
Truth is not something humanity invents.
Truth is rooted in the very character of God.
Why God’s Word Is Our Standard
We must remember that science, government, education, medicine, and the courts all play important roles in society.
However, none of them provide an absolute standard for morality.
Only God’s Word gives us an unchanging foundation for distinguishing truth from error.
When Scripture is removed from public life, people naturally begin replacing God’s standards with human opinions.
History repeatedly demonstrates where that path leads.
A Famine of Truth
The prophet Amos warned about a coming famine—not of bread or water—but of hearing the Word of the Lord.
Wherever there is a famine of God’s Word, there will also be a famine of truth.
Without biblical truth:
- Lies multiply.
- Deception spreads.
- Moral confusion increases.
- People lose their ability to discern truth from error.
That is why every believer must remain rooted in Scripture, allowing God’s Word to shape their thinking rather than the ever-changing opinions of culture.
How Can We Respond?
Although these realities may seem discouraging, Scripture also provides hope.
The answer is not fear.
The answer is not despair.
The answer is a renewed commitment to God’s truth.
As followers of Christ, we are called to:
- Love the truth.
- Read and study God’s Word faithfully.
- Test every teaching against Scripture.
- Speak the truth with love.
- Live as faithful witnesses in a confused world.
When believers remain anchored in God’s Word, they become lights that shine brightly even in times of great darkness.
