Sir Winston Churchill wrote in his war memoirs a remark he made to Joseph Stalin, Premier of the Soviet Union, during their meeting at Teheran Conference, November 30, 1943.
Premier Stalin told Mr. Churchill about the extensive use of deception the Soviets were using in radio broadcasts, fake tanks, fake airfields and fake airplanes.
In response, Prime Minister Churchill made the statement, “In wartime, truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.”
The significance of his statement is understood when one realizes how valuable it was to protect the true movements and strengths of military forces from the enemy.
What if the same philosophy and tactics are used to hide truth from people who are seeking to live free?
When a person has confessed and repented of their sin, received Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of their life, Jesus declares them to be free.
“Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36 NKJV).
Jesus also said, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32 NKJV).
Unrestricted access to the truth is a major component for living in freedom.
Jesus declared His Word, the Holy Bible, is the source of truth that makes one free.
The enemy, Satan, and his demons, will ever seek to keep a person from knowing truth by espousing a plethora of lies.
They will sound like, look like, and seem like the truth.
Indeed, they are the enemies’ bodyguard of lies, attending the truth, and seeking to deceive a person into believing the distortion and the deception is truth.
All the while, the truth that will make one free is being hidden, covered up, or altered.
The enemy will send the message you are not good enough. The truth is, “…having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.” Ephesians 1:5–6 NKJV
“…not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit…” Titus 3:5 NKJV
It is not your good works or your religious effort that makes one good enough or acceptable in the eyes of God.
God, of His own volition, has chosen to love you and make you acceptable in His eyes and heart through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.
The enemy will seek to camouflage a person’s true identity with feelings of condemnation and shame over past sinful behavior and failures. The truth is, “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1 NKJV
“He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy towards those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:10-12 NKJV
“But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, ‘This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,’ then He adds, ‘Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.’” Hebrews 10:15–17 NKJV
Justification or being justified is a divine fiat; that is a legal binding edict made by a person in authority, in this case, Almighty God.
He has made a binding edict whereby all your past sins have been removed never to be remembered or held against you again, forever. That makes you just-as-if-you-have-never-sinned. You are justified.
The truth is, “There is therefore, now, no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to flesh but according to the Spirit.”
The truth is you are a new creation. Old things have passed away and all things are new. You have been made the righteousness of God, in Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17-21).
The truth is, you were chosen, before the world was ever created, to be holy, without blame, in a love relationship with Almighty God, adopted as a child of God, and made an heir of God and a join-heir with Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:4-5, 11-14).
“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” Romans 8:15–17 NKJV
The enemy will try to destroy your courage and hope with propaganda, saying you are defeated, you cannot possibly stand, you are sinking, you are going to be destroyed.
The truth is, “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” Ephesians 2:4-6 NKJV
“What shall we say to these things? If God before us, who can be against us… Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:31, 37–39 NKJV
The Word of God, the absolute truth, declares your true identity and your true hope. Study the Word of God. Learn the truth.
Do not be deceived or discouraged by the distortions and deceptions of the enemy.
