I never cease to marvel at the men and women God has chosen to be His leaders.
Given any other setting than Holy Scripture, you and I might never have accepted them as candidates to be the leader of God’s people.
Abraham had an issue with the integrity of his word but became God’s chosen man through whom He would send the Redeemer of mankind.
Jacob, later named Israel, was a liar and became very wealthy by cheating his father-in-law. Yet, God chose Him to be the patriarch of the chosen people.
Joseph was spoiled and arrogant, sold into slavery by his brothers, and sentenced to prison for rape. He was God’s chosen prophet and leader that spared the nation of Egypt from the ravages of famine and protected God’s chosen people.
Moses was a murderer and a fugitive from justice hiding as a shepherd and married into a highly respected family. He encountered the living God and was called to be the deliverer of God’s chosen people.
Rahab was a prostitute that became a mother in the direct bloodline of the Messiah.
Would you have chosen any of these to be a leader?
He was the runt of the family, mocked and ridiculed by his brothers and shunned by his father. He had serious moral issues and even murdered a man to cover up a sexual encounter with the man’s wife. God chose David to be king of Israel and established his throne and bloodline as the throne and bloodline of Messiah.
He was a Persian idol worshipper that led a coup overthrowing his grandfather’s throne as king of the Medes. Through military conquest, he united the Medes and Persians; conquered the Lydian empire and extended his rule from the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas to the border of India. King Cyrus was the first emperor to be called “The Great” and he established the first true world empire. One hundred and sixty years before he was conceived in his mother’s womb God called this idol worshipping, war mongering man, “My shepherd” and said he was “His anointed.”
Would you have chosen David or Cyrus to be your leader?
Why of course, because you know David was a man after God’s heart. You know King Cyrus would show mercy to the Jewish people and let them return home and rebuild Jerusalem and the Temple.
Ah, but you only know that because of Holy Scripture. Without the Bible, just looking at their record and their life, would you have chosen any of these to be a leader?
I doubt it.
Is it possible that Hillary or Donald might be God’s chosen for this time?
Before you throw me under the bus, please continue reading.
God said Nebuchadnezzar was His hand to chastise Israel for rebelling against God and turning to idolatry (Jeremiah 15:6).
Is it possible that Hillary Clinton could be a leader in God’s hand to discipline this nation for murdering our pre-born babies and for removing His name and His image from every public arena and all the while we are welcoming other idols and deities?
Is it possible that Donald Trump could be God’s chosen Cyrus or Nebuchadnezzar for this generation because we have legalized what God calls an abomination and then taken what He declared as “My rainbow” and covered the White House with that “sign of the covenant” in celebration of that abomination?
I am deeply concerned that Christian leaders and most Christians of America have become so caught up in the political rhetoric, the political pundits, and listening to talk show hosts, they cannot hear God’s voice.
When the spiritual leaders and those who are supposed to be “the salt of the earth and the light of the world” have become filled with political opinion and ideology; when their heart and mind has been saturated with human reasoning and the philosophy of a particular political agenda, how can they see God’s hand at work?
Wait, wait, I know, your party platform is God’s platform because it agrees with certain moral values. Don’t toss me aside, just yet. Please read the remainder of the blog.
God is neither, Republican or Democrat. He is not Democrat or Republican. I reversed it just so you would not think I am emphasizing one over the other. He is not libertarian or socialist. God is not a politician.
While one party’s platform may have planks that agree with portions of God’s moral laws and with portions of Scripture, God knows the heart of man.
The Pharisees had their platform exactly right, but their heart was far from Him. Most of them could not see God-in-the-flesh standing before them. They could not see the times and the season, God had set. They could not see they were standing on the very brink of God bringing his discipline by allowing the Roman Empire to crush their city and the Temple, once again.
You have your party affiliation. You have listened to the so-called debates (different from any debate in which I ever participated.) You have your reasons for supporting the candidate or at least for supporting the party of your choice.
Have you fasted and prayed and sought God?
If God wanted to use you as a prophetic voice to Hillary or Donald, could He do so or are you so entrenched in your political opinion and stance you can only see and hear what your political mind-set can see and hear?
“I am not going to vote because I can’t support either candidate.” “I am going to do a write in for Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse because this election is a joke.”
I have had people say such things. I have seen worse statements on the social media.
Dear ones, God is deeply concerned for the leadership of this nation.
We have been the center of mercy for the world for over a century, as we have sent aid and medical care to ravaged nations.
We have been the protector of the world from tyrants and despots.
What nation in history has rebuilt the nation of their enemies, as we have done every time because we have not sought to rule the world but bring peace to the world?
We have been the voice of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world, sending thousands and thousands of missionaries and broadcasting over every new media as it became available.
We have lost or at least weakened those lofty positions as we have driven God out of our congress, out of halls of justice, and out of our hearts and minds. Time and again God has sent us warning signs. Again and again, He has sent us messengers and preachers calling us back to Him. We have hardened our hearts and turned our ears deaf.
Now He is raising a leader that will either lead us to repentance or lead us into the worst years of socio-economic disaster since the Revolutionary War.
We must turn down the political rhetoric and hear the voice of the Lord. We must turn our face from the political commercials and get face to face with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
We must allow the Holy Spirit to plow up our hearts and expose those areas that have become hardened so we can hear His voice speaking about the times and seasons in which we are living.
I am not telling you which candidate or party for which you should vote.
I am saying do not stay home.
I am saying do not make a silly write in vote.
I am saying fast and pray and vote by the leading of Holy Spirit.
I am saying whichever candidate becomes our President it is time for the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ to humble themselves, fast and pray and become the salt and the light God has meant.
We must have revival in the church and spiritual awakening in our nation.
The hope for America is not Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or Socialist.
The only hope for America is the Lord Jesus Christ; Holy Spirit revival; righteousness exalted; and the power of sin, corruption and evil broken.

I believe this whole heartedly. God can use anyone He wants and has definantly used some questionable characters. It may seem like a joke, but is very real. We can believe and say whatever we want, but if we do nothing we surrender. Ultimately it is all in Gods hands and part of His plan, His will be done! Its hard to believe that either if these people could have even been elected at all. It gives me hope to remember what you have so eloquently wrote out. That God is in control. He uses people and situations that make you realize that it is only because of Him. Thank you for your wise view of this.
Yes He has. The Bible is filled with so many flawed leaders that He chose to use to accomplish His purposes. We need to set the rhetoric aside and fast and pray for our nation!
