Recent events inside the church have caused me to reflect on the level of spiritual warfare the enemy forces have raised against the Kingdom of God.
They remind me of what Great Britain faced in World War II. In fact, the parallels of today’s church with Great Britain are quite astounding!
In response, I share with you a portion of the introduction to Mission Agape’.
How Today’s Church Looks Likes Great Britain in World War II
We are at war!
This is not a time for appeasement or negotiation.
We find ourselves, spiritually, in the same place Great Britain was on May 13, 1940.
Lord Neville Chamberlain had been in negotiations with Adolph Hitler for months. Following each meeting the Nazi regime held more of mainland Europe; first, the east banks of the Rhine River.
Next, Austria was annexed under German control. Sudetenland was invaded after the Munich Accord in 1938.
September 1, 1939, Poland came under the heel of the Jackboot and the stunning power of the blitzkrieg. In response to the invasion of Poland, England and France declared war on Germany. The whole of Europe was living under the fear of the “broken cross.”
Lord Chamberlain was replaced, as Prime Minister, of Britain by the “Bull Dog,” after the months of inept leadership.
May 13th, Sir Winston Churchill gave his first address to the Parliament of Britain. In part, the halls of that great chamber resounded with these stunning words.
“… I would say to the house, as I have said to those who have joined this government: ‘I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat.’ We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering. You ask, what is our policy? I will say: it is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us: to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory. Victory, at all cost. Victory, in spite of all terror. Victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival. Let that be realized; no survival for the British Empire; no survival for all that the British Empire has stood for, no survival for the urge and impulses of the ages, that mankind will move forward towards its goal. But I take up my task with buoyancy and hope. I feel sure that our cause will not be suffered to fail among men. At this time I feel entitled to claim the aid of all, and I say, ‘Come, then, let us go forward together with our united strength.”
Six days after Sir Winston Churchill had given that moving speech to the Parliament he spoke to his nation on public radio, ‘Our task is not only to win the battle- but to win the war.’
That is the task before the church.
We must take up arms – spiritual arms that are “mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds” (2 Cor.10:3-4).
We must go forward doing great exploits for the kingdom of God, extending the mission Jesus Christ accomplished on the cross to the ends of the earth.
We must see victory!
Victory through the cross of Christ!
Victory by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony!”
Victory by our faith!
Without victory there will be no survival for mankind! We must unveil the mask of darkness and set the captives free!
We must complete Mission Agape!
