When the church is under attack, her response to the attack is vitally important; as is our response when a fellow soldier falls.
God has sent us to the front lines of battle, and our battle plan is essential to our victory!
David’s heart was broken. His spiritual brother was struck down in battle and the king who had sworn his death had been killed.
In his sorrow David sang these words, “The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen” (2 Samuel 1:19)!
Does your heart sorrow at the loss of yet another fallen soldier of the Kingdom of God?
A valiant warrior?
Oh, you might not agree with all of his mannerisms. You may even have great disagreement with his style of ministry and leadership philosophy.
But he preached the Holy Scripture is the inerrant Word of God; Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the only Savior of mankind; salvation is by grace alone through faith in the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He is a brother, a fellow soldier of cross. He has been taken down by the work of darkness. Does it break your heart?
Will we just stand back and watch the enemy plunder?
How many of our brothers and sisters must fall before we rise up and say, “Enough!”

The number of pastors who are discouraged and leaving the ministry is staggering. The churches that are closing their doors every day is shocking.
Missionaries are becoming disheartened and returning home.
The lack of converts and new baptisms being reported is discouraging leaders and many are beginning to believe it may not be possible to see another revival.
What does this tell you?
Are we defeated?
Do we call retreat; load up the equipment; declare a truce; and take down our flag?
Not on my watch!
The enemy has pulled out the stops; called to the front lines all of troops and resources he can muster. He is throwing everything he can against our forces because he recognizes the imminent defeat of his kingdom.
Therefore, he has brought everything he has to the drive back the forces of the church. He may have created a “bulge in our lines” but we must not allow his continued advance.
We must stand our ground!
Take up the weapons “that are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.” Rally the troops. Attack the gates of hell and plunder them for the Kingdom of God’s dear Son!
5 Things We Must Know When the Church Is Under Attack
1. The believers must be taught who they are in Jesus Christ. They are not just people who go to church on Sunday. They are “kings and priests” unto their God.
2. They have been given authority to “tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy” (Luke 10:19).
3. They are fully capable of doing the same works as Jesus (John 14:12).
4. They must be encouraged to stand up and go to battle.
5. They must be trained how to pray and exercise the authority Jesus has given to them. “Whatever you ask anything in my Name, that I will do that the Father maybe glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my Name I will do it” (John 14:13-14 NKJV).
The Apostles gave us the example in Acts 4.
They had been arrested, persecuted and commanded not to speak in the name of Jesus Christ. They returned to the Church and shared with them what had happened.
Did the church wither?
Did they retreat and hide?
No! They prayed a bold and powerful prayer for renewing and empowerment to finish the work God had given them.
“Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness” (Acts 4:29-31 NKJV).
We must pray until the believers are filled with a fresh fire of the Holy Spirit. Then encourage them to stand up with courage and boldness.
Send them to the battle and plunder hell to populate heaven!
