The world finds itself in a very similar place as that of Great Britain on May 13, 1940.
Lord Neville Chamberlain had been in appeasement negotiations with Adolph Hitler. Progressive politicians just could not believe Chancellor Hitler was a man with evil intent.
In violation of the Treaty of Versailles and the Locarno Pact, German military troops marched into the Rhineland and the east banks of the Rhine River were annexed into German territory in March 1936.
Just two years later, March 12, 1938 came the Anschluss, and the annexation of Austria under German control.
Herr Hitler quickly followed this amazing political victory with the demand Sudetenland was German not Czech and should be under the German government.
Mounting pressure brought the leaders of Germany, Italy, France and Great Britain to Munich.
The emergency meetings took place, September 29th and 30th 1938.
The Munich Accord rapidly brought an agreement granting Chancellor Hitler all of his demands including the annexation of the Sudetenland to Germany.
Neville Chamberlain arrived back in Great Britain at Heston Aerodrome.
His initial speech following the Munich Accord included this statement,
“… the settlement of the Czechoslovak problem, which has now been achieved is, in my view, only the prelude to a larger settlement in which all Europe may find peace.
This morning I had another talk with the German Chancellor, Herr Hitler, and here is the paper which bears his name upon it as well as mine.
Some of you, perhaps, have already heard what it contains but I would just like to read it to you:
‘ … We regard the agreement signed last night and the Anglo-German Naval Agreement as symbolic of the desire of our two peoples never to go to war with one another again’”. (Oxford Dictionary of Quotations)
Lord Chamberlain arrived at 10 Downing Street later that day. Before entering the residence he again read from the documents of the Munich Accord and concluded his remarks with these words.
“My good friends, for the second time in our history a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time”. (Oxford Dictionary of Quotations)
He just could not believe palpable evil existed in the heart of the man who was Chancellor of Germany.
Yet, September 1, 1939, Poland came under the heel of the Jackboot and the stunning power of the blitzkrieg. Less than a year earlier, November 9-10, 1938, Kristallnacht had exploded across Germany.
Secretly, Herr Hitler and Haj Amin el Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, had been strategizing a plan for dealing with the Jewish population.
The Grand Mufti moved from Jerusalem to Berlin in 1941 to work hand in hand with the Chancellor of Germany and Himmler in launching the “Final Solution.”
Real evil did exist and the whole of Europe was coming under the dark forces of the “broken cross.”
Lord Chamberlain was replaced, as Prime Minister, of Britain by the “Bull Dog,” after the months of inept leadership. May 13, 1940, Sir Winston Churchill gave his first address, as Prime Minister, to the Parliament of Britain.
In part, the halls of that great chamber resounded with these stunning words.
“… I would say to the house, as I have said to those who have joined this government: ‘I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat.’
We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind.
We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering.
You ask, what is our policy? I will say: it is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us: to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark lamentable catalogue of human crime.
That is our policy.
You ask what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory. Victory, at all cost. Victory, in spite of all terror. Victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.
Let that be realized; no survival for the British Empire; no survival for all that the British Empire has stood for, no survival for the urge and impulses of the ages, that mankind will move forward towards its goal.
But I take up my task with buoyancy and hope.
I feel sure that our cause will not be suffered to fail among men. At this time I feel entitled to claim the aid of all, and I say, ‘Come, then, let us go forward together with our united strength.”
Six days later Churchill spoke to his nation on public radio saying, “Our task is not only to win the battle- but to win the war.”
Here we are seventy-nine years later facing a similar struggle.
Progressive politicians and leaders who refuse to believe real evil exists in the heart of men and women.
Eight hundred and seventy-eight churches in France were vandalized in 2017. That number increased to one thousand and sixty-three in 2018.
That does not include the number of Christian symbols in cemeteries or on hillsides.
Germany and the United States are also experiencing a growing number of desecrations of Christian symbols and churches.
While the media and politicians remain eerily silent about the identity of the vandals, the evidence overwhelmingly points to the great-great grandchildren of the Grand Mufti Haj Amin el Husseini carrying out terrorist attacks on Christians and Jews.
The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem was the “Father of the Palestinian Nationalism or the PLO.
When an organization or a group of people hate “the Apple of God’s Eye” and the disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ and they openly seek to destroy them, the level of evil goes deeper than just religious fanaticism.
It is evil spawned in the heart of the father of all evil, the one who has sinned from the beginning.
There is a reason the Holy Scriptures declare the heart of man is desperately evil.
The Apostle James made it clear the heart of man can be a fountain of spring water and a fountain of salt water. A man’s heart can bring forth praise to God. It can also bring forth cursing.
It is shocking how evil a human heart can become when it is given over the powers of darkness.
The capacity a human heart has for evil is reflected in the level of suffering our Lord Jesus Christ experienced. “Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin.”
“Surely He has borne our griefs (sickness) and carried our sorrows (pain)… He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:4-6 NKJV).
Every blow to His face;
Every bruise on His body;
The flogging of His back that tore the flesh exposing the bones and ripping open the capillaries spewing huge amounts of blood everywhere;
Every blow of the hammer driving he nails through His flesh into the wooden beam;
All of these declare evil really does exist.
Evil exists in the heart of men and women who have not been transformed by the redeeming power of Jesus Christ.
Evil that is not expiated, renounced, and repented of, will corrupt. Evil unabated will corrupt absolutely.
Culture excuses the murder of the pre-born.
Politicians cover and hide the exploitation of the children and the teenagers bought and sold for sensual gratification.
Courts defend the market that displays naked women and men as art, while steadfastly refusing to acknowledge the utter devastation of the soul of the victims whose bodies are on display.
Advertising exalts the pleasure of unrestrained behavior under the influence of alcohol and steadfastly refuses to acknowledge the devastation and death experienced by those whose lives are forever changed through drunk driving and alcoholic parents.
Real evil exists in heart and the kingdom of Lucifer who comes to steal and to kill and to destroy.
Real evil exists in the heart, mind and behavior of every man, woman and child who are born on planet earth.
That is why Jesus Christ came into the world.
He came to destroy the works of the devil; expiate the power and the force of sin; and to redeem those whose lives had been destroyed by the force of evil.
