Everywhere we look, the world seems increasingly unstable. Wars, political division, moral confusion, and growing hostility toward biblical truth leave many Christians asking an important question:
How should a disciple of Jesus Christ be living in times like these?
Wars continue to rage.
Political systems are becoming increasingly unstable.
Our culture has grown more secular, more morally confused, and in many ways openly hostile to biblical truth.
Even within the church, many believers are questioning long-held biblical doctrines as movements like deconstruction theology gain influence.
In times like these, many Christians are asking an important question:
How should a disciple of Jesus Christ be living?
As followers of Christ, we cannot afford to respond to the world the same way everyone else does. Scripture calls us to think differently, live differently, and view the world through the lens of God’s Word rather than through politics, media, or popular opinion.
In this series, I want to explore what it means to live faithfully as a disciple of Jesus Christ in the days in which we find ourselves.
We Are Living in Significant Times
There is no denying that we are witnessing remarkable events unfold around the world.
Israel continues to fight for her security and survival.
Nations are increasingly divided.
Political tensions continue to rise across the globe.
At the same time, our own culture has become increasingly secular, pagan, and resistant to biblical truth.
These developments naturally cause many believers to wonder what the future holds.
While it’s easy to become consumed with headlines and political debates, disciples of Jesus must remember that our hope has never rested in governments or political parties. Our confidence is found in Christ alone.
Current events should certainly capture our attention, but they should never determine our perspective. God’s Word must always remain our primary source of truth.
The Church Is Facing Challenges from Within
The challenges facing Christians today are not only outside the church.
Many churches are experiencing increasing pressure to compromise biblical convictions in order to align with cultural expectations.
One of the growing concerns in recent years has been the rise of deconstruction theology.
While believers should never be afraid to ask honest questions, many forms of deconstruction move beyond questioning and ultimately reject the authority of Scripture itself.
This is not entirely new.
In previous generations, higher criticism challenged the reliability and authority of God’s Word, causing many to abandon foundational biblical doctrines.
Today we are seeing similar pressures emerge under different names, but the result is often the same—a diminished confidence in Scripture and a departure from historic Christian faith.
More than ever, disciples of Jesus must remain firmly anchored in the truth of God’s Word.
Every Disciple Needs a Biblical Worldview
How should Christians evaluate everything happening around them?
The answer is simple.
We must develop a biblical worldview.
A biblical worldview means that we interpret every event, every cultural movement, and every political issue through the authority of Scripture.
Our opinions should never be shaped primarily by news outlets, political parties, or cultural trends.
Instead, God’s Word becomes the standard by which we evaluate everything else.
This requires more than simply attending church or possessing biblical knowledge.
It requires a vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to living as His disciple every day.
Living Under the Authority of Christ
Jesus did not simply save us so that we could one day go to heaven.
He calls us to live under His lordship today.
Every disciple is called to live under the authority of God’s Kingdom, allowing Christ to direct every area of life.
When Jesus spoke about the Kingdom of God, He was inviting His followers into a completely different way of living—a life marked by obedience, faith, humility, and dependence upon Him.
Rather than allowing fear to control us, we live with confidence because Christ reigns.
Rather than becoming consumed by cultural confusion, we stand firmly upon biblical truth.
Rather than placing our hope in earthly solutions, we remember that our ultimate citizenship is in the Kingdom of God.
Pray for Spiritual Awakening
As we observe the condition of our nation and the world, our greatest need is not merely political change.
Our greatest need is spiritual awakening.
Throughout the book of Acts, we see what happens when God’s Spirit moves in power.
On the Day of Pentecost, three thousand people came to faith in Christ. Soon afterward, thousands more believed. The church multiplied rapidly as lives were transformed by the gospel.
That is the kind of awakening we should be praying for today.
Our communities need more than temporary solutions.
They need hearts transformed by the power of Jesus Christ.
As disciples, we should faithfully pray that God would once again pour out His Spirit in a way that brings widespread repentance, genuine faith, and lasting spiritual renewal.
Looking Ahead
These are challenging days, but they are also days filled with opportunity.
God has not called His people to fear.
He has called us to faithfulness.
Over the next several articles, we’ll continue exploring what it means to live as authentic disciples of Jesus Christ in today’s world—people who possess a biblical worldview, live under the authority of God’s Kingdom, and remain faithful regardless of the cultural pressures surrounding us.
The world desperately needs Christians who not only believe in Jesus but also faithfully follow Him.
