How does a person know when they are deceived?
If a person is living in deception, how will they know it and deliver themselves from it?
That can only happen if they are willing to hear and accept when someone tells them truth. Heavenly Father warned us of a time when people would not love to hear truth, and the dangers of living in deception.
We are living in such a time. Our culture has moved from willingly receiving disinformation, to deception, to distortion, and now universally distributes delusion as if it were the truth.
We hear delusion in the media, at political rallies, even in the classrooms of our universities.
Just one example of this process that has taken place before our very eyes is the continual affirmation of the fluidity of gender identity. There are more than two kinds of human sexuality, in fact there are dozens.
You have heard it said, “Someone in a biological male body may actually be a female.”
During this truth-shift, the culture has moved from asking for tolerance, to insisting upon acceptance of this new discovery of “truth”, to now demanding everyone embrace such distortion or they will be labeled, excluded, and ostracized.
Because our culture has refused “the love of the truth” they have been given over to delusion and the level of personal bondage has grown exponentially. Emotional trauma is pandemic; drug and alcohol addiction for all ages, including teen and pre-teen children, is off the charts; sexual addiction and perversion are at levels never seen in our nation.
It is imperative the church does not give in to this compromise of the truth.
Jude has written a warning to us.
Truth has been vouchsafed in the hands of the church. If the church begins to compromise and rewrite truth, to whom will those who are deceived turn to be delivered from the delusion?
Jesus said it with great clarity. “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32 NKJV). T
he disciples of Jesus Christ have been given the responsibility to remain steadfast in the truth, no matter what deception, distortion, or delusion culture may embrace.
The disciples of Jesus, that is the church, must remain the anchor of truth and the source of true freedom.
When truth is removed, the powers of darkness have a wide gateway to bring every kind of evil into the culture. Human beings become pawns in the hands of evil forces. Sinful passions run rampant. Integrity, honesty, honor, and respect are beaten down by greed, domination and intimidation. All things lovely, pure, and wholesome are defiled as beauty and attraction become sensuous and degrading.
The human mind cannot endure such overload of evil.
Fear, worry, anxiety, insecurity, and depression take over, suppressing joy, peace, and healthy emotions. The human body breaks down from emotional trauma, addictions, and sinful behavior. The culture becomes a slave to those things they once thought to be freedom.
The only source of hope and deliverance is found in truth. There must be a reservoir and a messenger of truth. The only reservoir of truth is the Word of God. The only messenger of truth is the church. If that reservoir of truth has become polluted or the messengers have lost integrity and fail to bring an accurate message of truth, the culture is doomed.
The reservoir of truth will never become polluted. “Forever, O Lord, Your Word is settled in Heaven” (Psalm 119:89 NKJV). “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” (Matthew 24:35 NKJV).
The messengers must remain faithful.
The disciples must “abide” in His Word.
They must remain steadfast, unmovable, without compromising or distorting the Word of God. Pastors, Bible college and university professors, denominational leaders, and the members of the churches must remain committed to the infallibility and inerrancy of the Holy Scripture.
They must teach the principles and precepts of God’s Word without apology and without compromise.
These are the words that will set mankind free. These are the only words of hope this lost and distorted culture will find.
It is imperative, the church has been given this grave responsibility. The Lord Jesus Christ is counting on us that we will not fail this generation. We have the Word of Truth that will set men and women free.
